The palm trees stretched up and seemed like if they didn’t fall over, they might touch the sky. I felt like I might be able to touch the sky, too, and it’s all because I took a chance on myself.
I’ve just returned from a trip to Palm Springs, California. There, I was immersed in a weekend of learning and connecting with others who want to make a big impact on the world. It was great to surround myself with other like-minded people and to gain ideas and energy from them. This trip was my way of putting myself and my business first.
After years of having events like this paid by the corporations I’ve worked for, it was a big decision for me to put the money down on myself. But I did it anyway. I took the big gulp, knowing that I could have spent the money on other areas of my business or on my family. Instead, I chose to invest in my growth and development.
It was a great decision. In only a few short days, I learned a lot—not just about things I can implement in my coaching practise, but also about myself and what I think I can achieve.
Think about the last time you did something for yourself. What was it? How did it feel? What great things happened as a result? Whether it was something big like my trip, or something smaller in price yet big on personal fulfillment value, I’m betting you walked away from the experience with a little extra skip in your step. I bet your family also benefitted. In my conversations with other moms, they have shared that they feel like they can be better moms when they take the time for themselves. I invite you to do the same.
